Larry Newton earned his GCREP- GL in September 2008. He will be our Sr. Instructor covering the Southern Region of the United States. Larry has been involved in residential real estate since 1999 with a passion for both the natural and built environment. With the launch of the Green Building Council of Greater Columbia (South Carolina) during the summer of 2007, Larry suddenly found an outlet for these interests. Larry holds the designation CGP (Certified Green Professional), newly created in 2008 from the National Home Builders Association. Prior to real estate Larry was employed by a major automotive supplier to the North American Automobile Industry. His career involved Industrial Engineering, and later Quality Management. It was only natural, that from a background in methods, team building, and efficiency, he would find another application for these talents in Green Building.
Larry has also been involved with a number of professional and community organizations. Of interest is his research and coauthoring a successful application to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, “The Pakatakan Artist Colony”. It explored the relationship of the artists with their studios ( the built environment ) and their artwork (the natural world). For that effort, Larry shared an honorary award from the Delaware County Historical Association for his contribution to both national and local cultural history. He graduated with honors from Siena College (Loudonville, New York), receiving a BS in Marketing.
