Bert Henderson is a consultant and lead instructor for the Home Inspection Green Building Course curriculum for Green Real Estate Education and is a retired Energy Extension Faculty II that was associated with the Florida Energy Extension Service and the Programs for Resource Efficient Communities at the University of Florida (UF) /IFAS/Extension. He was responsible for marketing and presenting professional adult education programs focused to the building industry and allied fields in energy conservation, sustainable construction, and hurricane and emergency preparedness. Bert was graduated from the University of South Florida (USF) with a BA degree in Mass Communications double majoring in public relations and visual communications.
Using the Energy Star program as a baseline, he facilitated classes training contractors, builders, building officials, architects, engineers, interior designers, and homeowners in all phases of energy efficient design and construction. His programs, printed support materials, and electronic productions have received local and national awards through Extension and professional affiliations.
Prior to UF, Bert was a communications coordinator for Florida Power (FP) now, Progress Energy, where he project managed the construction of FP’s ¼ million dollar Science Center.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) adopted Bert’s Power Place programs in energy as part of their national energy curriculum
