Dr. Judy Yates, LEED AP has joined Green Real Estate Education in our Building Systems Division as a curriculum developer and Sr. Trainer for “green” building and sustainability. Dr. Yates is accredited and certified respectively, to provide green building certification through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC). As a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP), she works with the construction industry to provide guidance and direction for green building design and construction. = Judy retired as an Extension Faculty with the University of Florida (UF), Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS), and Extension. She was a County Extension Director for 23 years and was the construction manager in 2000 for the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo, FL. The 150 acre $25 million garden was a first generation teaching garden for the Pinellas County Extension.
She was also responsible as the catalyst for forming the Bushnell Center for Sustainability at the Pinellas County Extension. She interacted with elected officials in the Tampa Bay area at the county, state, and federal level concerning green construction and environmental issues.
Judy was graduated from Auburn University with a BS degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. Her Ed.D. is in Adult Education from the University of South Florida.
